Fuerteventura is the oldest Canary Island. Its formation started 20 million years ago by volcanic eruptions. However the majority of the island was formed there are 5 million years. Volcanic activity ends there 4000 or 5000 years, and erosion caused his work. The highest point, Mount Jandia in the south-west, rises 807 meters above sea level.

Fuerteventura is composed of vast plains, fruit of a long process of erosion throughout its history. In the central area is the massive Betancour, with a maximum altitude of 762 m to the peak of the Atalaya. To the south lie the isthmus of the peninsula and Pared Jandia, with the Pic de la Zarza to 812m altitude. The latter is the highest mountain on the island.
The coast of Fuerteventura is about 326 km, 77 km of beaches, which places the island in second position after Tenerife length of coastline. The 2/3 of the beaches are wide and white sand or black. South, Pájara has 136 km of coastline. There are the beaches of the Jandia peninsula, the longest of the Canary Islands. To the north, La Oliva has 90 km of coastline, with dunes of Corralejo. The coast is dotted with many lighthouses including La Entallada, surprising in its architecture and 196 m above sea level.
