Malaga

Malaga is a city and a municipality of Andalusia, Spain. With a population of 568,305 in 2009, it is the second most populous city of Andalusia. It lies on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun), about 100 km east of Gibraltar.

Malaga enjoys a subtropical climate. Here are the warmest winters in Europe, with average temperatures above 17.2 °C (63.0 °F) during the day in the period December to February. The summer season lasts for about 8 months, from April to November.

Malaga's is one of the oldest cities in the world. It's important cultural infrastructure and the rich artistic heritage make Malaga a deserving candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture.

Plaza de Toros

Located in the Malagueta district near Málaga's port and constructed in neo-Mudéjar style in 1874. The bullring seats 11,000 people and its interesting museum displays its colourful history.

Teatro Románo

This is a substantial archaeological find dating from the 1st century. It is located just below the Alcazaba and the Moors used stones from it to restore their fortress.

Alcazaba

A 9th century Muslim fortress built on Roman remains overlooking the city and port. It's museum contains valuable examples of Islamic pottery and other artefacts.

A spacious leafy square where Malaga s most famous son Picasso was born in 1881.
