Rhodes is the largest of the 12 Dodecanese islands, and is a well preserved old medieval city, filled with a rich history and with its many castles, beautiful beaches and clear waters, makes for the most popular travel destination in Greece. It is renowned for its ancient ruins and was once occupied by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades, of which remnants lie.

There are many famous towns spread throughout Rhodes such as Lindos which is just South of the capital, is renowned for its Acropolis which dominates the town from the top of the hill it resides on.

South of the Capital, on the Eastern Coast, lies Archangelos with its narrow streets and strong traditional ties, where even bread is still baked in the traditional wood fired ovens.

What to do in Rhodes ?

There is a treasure trove of attractions to visit and see while in Rhodes. One such attraction is the Palace of the Grand Master which is located at the end of the Street of Knights the palace was built in the 14th-century on a 7th-century Byzantine fortress. This is where the Knights of St. John ruled from 1309-1522. Rhodes is full of old castles and another such is the the Castle of Monolithos and whilst only the external walls remain, it was once one of the four most powerful castles in Rhodes.

The island is also famous for its beautiful beaches, like Kiotari which is located 60km from Rhodes City; here you will find a variety of bakery's, luxury hotels and patisseries. The beach is peaceful and quite, perfect for couples.
