Dublin is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland. It is located on the east coast, at the mouth of the Liffey River, which runs through the city dividing it into 2. Dublin-Ireland has existed since the 9th century and its history is entwined with that of Great Britain, its neighbour across the Irish Sea.

Places to see in Dublin-Ireland Dublin's oldest building is Dublin Castle. It was originally built as a fortress in the 13th century and is still used today for government affairs such as the inauguration of the President and state functions. It has impressive state apartments, the original Record Tower, extensive grounds and on site museums. Another historical site is Trinity College, the oldest university in Ireland, founded in 1592 by Elizabeth I of England. Its library houses the famous Book of Kells. Other sites include St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Ha'penny Bridge, a cast iron pedestrian bridge over the River Liffey, built in 1816, the Molly Malone statue, erected in 1988 and the Spire of Dublin, a monument designed in 2003 to reflect modern Dublin.
