Discover Salzburg (Austria)

Salzburg is a medieval city in Austria located on the banks of the Salzach River close to the border of Germany. Musically celebrated, Salzburg is the birthplace of beloved composer Mozart and famously the setting of the theatrical Sound of Music. Salzburg's historic quarter is the largest UNESCO World Heritage Site in the world, displaying a wealth of impressive Baroque architecture. Along the narrow cobbled Getreidegasse avenue, horse and carriages meander past charming old-world shops and cozy cafes, overlooking the glistening river dotted with elegant bridges. Dominating the Domplatz (Cathedral Square) are the soaring domes and elegant spires of the imposing Salzburger Dom Cathedral. Presiding over the old town, Salzburg's iconic medieval hilltop fortress Hohensalzburg Fortress dates back 900 years and is a magnificent showcase of the sumptuous architecture of that time.
