Discover Biarritz (France)

Biarritz is a stylish seaside town on the Bay of Biscay on the border of France and Spain. This once tranquil fishing village became a popular bourgeois holiday destination for well-heeled French families in the 19th century. Nowadays, the sparkling glamour may not shine quite so brightly, but Biarritz still exudes an alluring old-fashioned elegance, intermingled with a bohemian, laid-back ambience and a growing art scene. Residing at the foot of the French Pyrenees, enchanting sun-kissed beaches boast dreamy views of the Basque Coast, and the town has become a popular destination for surfing. Along bustling pedestrianized avenues, holidaymakers browse boutique shops and stroll along the seafront promenade of La Grande Plage before retiring to dine on fresh seafood or in one of the Spanish influenced tapas bars.
